In  this installation article we have explained you where to download the iso of ARCHLabs, how to install ARCHLabs and how to customize ARCHLabs. We went into detail about the essential parts of openbox like tint2, the conky and the openbox menu. We made also a tutorial how to change the look of ARCHLabs and so on.

The menu of openbox is quite important and deserves more attention and explication.

CTRL + H will show you the ~/.config/openbox folder. This folder is where all the core files are for openbox.

Menu.xml is a file that contains your menu and can be edited. With right-mouse click you choose what editor you like and open it.

We have changed geany to have a dark theme. This is done via one of the personal scripts. Let us explain the structure of such an XML file and make a new menu for lxterminal.
Save the new menu and restart openbox with configure/openbox/restart in the menu.

Deleting items in the menu is done with “blocks” from <item…> to </item>.

There are also “Pipemenu’s” like al-places-pipemenu and al-recent-files-pipemenu. They point to applications that will take care of the menu for us.

There is a second way  to make or edit the openbox menu i.e. obmenu. If openbox does not start, type this in the terminal.

Let us make a menu for Terminix with obmenu. CTRL + SHIFT + BACKSPACE will restart my openbox. It is a personal custom keybinding I have made to restart openbox. IF you are using my personal scripts (or in this case my openbox folder) then it will work.

We end up with a menu of our own choice.
